Stephan Bonnar was ecstatic after his dramatic victory over Krzysztof Soszynski. He was all smiles win, giving an emotional speech in the Octagon. His glee continued during the UFC 116 post fight press conference but he may have to calm down an angry wife. "I'm on cloud nine right now. I'm about as high as you can get. You have no idea. The feeling right now, just to get a win, it's means the world to me. I'm really in heaven," Bonnar said during the UFC 116 postfight press conference. "This is better than sex." Oops. We know what he meant, but did his wife, Andrea? Bonnar went into damage control mode today. "We're married. The sex is great," Bonnar told RawVegas.tv via text. "It was just cuz it was my first win in almost three years. If I hadn't gotten [expletive] in three years and finally did, nothing would be better." Let's hope that smooths things over on the home front. Bonnar, a runnerup to Forrest Griffin in the Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale, has seen his career go in a different direction. While Griffin ascended into the top five amongst UFC light heavyweights, even holding the 205 pound championship belt for a fight, Bonnar was just 5-5 in the UFC. He hadn't won a fight since Oct. of 2007. "I've had a rough road. The last fight was a loss on my record but I didn't lose that fight," Bonnar said of his first fight against Soszynski at UFC 110 in Australia. The fight was stopped early in the third because Bonnar was spurting blood from several gashes on his head. That "loss" kept Bonnar focused as he was facing what could've been the end of his UFC career. "The good thing about that is it gave me a lot of motivation. When I didn't feel like going to the gym or i was sore, I just thought of that and it made me train," said Bonnar. It wasn't easy for Bonnar (12-7, 6-6 UFC). He had to fight back from getting rocked several times in the first round. "I gotta give Kris some credit. He hit me so hard my head went back and I saw the lights. When I tried to refocus. I couldn't see anything for a good 45 seconds. You know the Rocky movie? They say 'I'm seeing three of them.' That's what I was thinking. Should I see three of him? I can't see [expletive]." Bonnar recovered enough to land a big knee and finish the fight on the ground. He's still just 33 and will always have a place with the promotion. For folks who deal with Bonnar on a daily basis, you had to root for the guy to finally break through.
