Last night's UFC Primetime show featuring Georges St. Pierre and Dan Hardy drew an estimated 1 million viewers on Spike TV, the network said today. That's the largest Primetime audience so far, Spike said. UFC first tried the format in January 2009 as a three-part series to build buzz for UFC 94's main event between St. Pierre and BJ Penn. The premiere of Primetime for St. Pierre-Penn last year generated 880,000 viewers. UFC usually creates single Countdown programs meant to air in 30-minute slots as previews for each pay-per-view broadcast or major program on free TV. Primetime — which mimics the style introduced by HBO's 24/7 programs to promote major boxing cards — goes more in-depth by focusing on just one pair of fighters over multiple episodes.
