The rash of injuries that seemed to plague UFC matchmaking in the latter part of 2009 appears to have carried over into 2010 as both Spencer Fisher and Rob Kimmons have been scratched from their respective preliminary bouts at the UFC on Versus card from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, CO due to injuries suffered by both men in training.

Fisher, who was signed on to face Denver native Duane “Bang” Ludwig, was forced out of his bout due to an undisclosed injury and will be replaced by Darren Elkins, a Midwestern-regional promotion star who will come into the bout with a 9-1 record and a victory over former UFC fighter Gideon Ray in his last bout in November of 2009.

As for Kimmons, a leg injury will force him out of his scheduled fight against Mike Pierce and he will be replaced by another UFC newcomer, Juilo Paulino. Paulino has made his career fighting mainly in Alaska-based promotions and holds a 17-2 record overall with 10 KO/TKO’s and 6 submission in those seventeen wins.

UFC on Versus will feature a Light Heavyweight main event between Jon “Bones” Jones and Brandon “The Truth” Vera, as well as a Heavyweight fight between Brazilian stars Gabriel Gonzaga and Junior dos Santos.
